Here's the Scoop About Me
, NI'll be starting my 11th year here at the Gladstone Junior High school, but I did teach high school level three years prior in Pickford, MI. I've never gotten away from the purple and white!
I graduated from Gladstone High School and attended Lake Superior State University for my BA degree. There, I played softball for four years as a pitcher and 1st and 2nd baseman. So fun. Love that game. I also have a MA degree in Coaching & Athletic Administration.
My whole life has been filled with sports as a student athlete and then coach, but in 2016 I took a step away from coaching after my fiance passed away. Spending some down time traveling and exploring is really what has been bringing me a new kind of happiness. I still dabble with softball players in the pitching department, which is something I hope never goes away.
My summers are typically planned on a whim--I never know where I'm going to be. Pictured Rocks is a favorite spot to camp and kayak, and when I can, I try to travel to places I've never been. Last year I was lucky enough to visit Nashville--twice--and took a week-long trip to Spain with our high school group. I'm hoping to check Ireland off my places-to-visit list sometime soon!
I've played softball since I was ten years old, so you'll still find me in a slow pitch game or two throughout the summer. I'm an amateur (a.k.a. rookie) snowboarder, mountain biking is a casual part of my life, and experimenting and baking in my kitchen is common practice when I have the space, time, and patience. :-) Whenever I can, I sneak in a novel during the school year, but I definitely get my fix of reading during the summer and camping. Reading in a hammock by a lake? Yes, please!
Aside from relaxing and traveling, working out has become a favorite part of my day, so I also putts around at the gym. Another huge pick me up for me is attending live concerts and music--hopefully that can continue in the near future. Even though 2020 has been a rough year, to say the least, I have had a little excitement at my house with a new puppy, Nova. (I'll have to add a picture of her, too!)
Just a few tid-bits about me! I hope to learn about you as well as we get to know each other this school year.
